Courtney Lomax

In my work Mother Goose 2017 (June), I introduced my theory on nursery rhymes and how the character of Mother Goose is in fact a grim reaper teaching the child reader about death within the joyful singing and illustration of the printed nursery rhyme. The notion behind my work is self-perception and fan theory and works by the German born American artist Kiki Smith (b 1954 – ). However, my thesis of origins differs from Smith’s because I introduce my own insight into the origins of my cartoon subjects, though like Smith I also plan to introduce a connection between humans and animals.
